City Outings:

City staff gets things done!

Cool Pavement Pilot Project: The City of Irvine recently launched Cool Pavement, a pavement coating pilot program that extends the life of City streets and combats heat islands with a solar reflective material. Irvine is the first city in Orange County to adopt this technology, and Vice Mayor Agran was thrilled to have introduced this initiative.

Irvine Animal Care Center Expansion and Renovation Project: The Irvine Animal Care Center Expansion and Renovation project is officially underway. The project will include an expansion of the administration building, the construction of a new clinic building, and the renovation of existing buildings. Vice Mayor Agran especially thanks Mike Cribbin, Darrell Hartman, and all the dedicated City staff and volunteers who make this improvement possible while continuing to provide shelter, care, and enrichment for animals in need.

National Night Out: National Night Out at the Great Park was an excellent opportunity for the police to interact with the community and for residents to strengthen their relationships with local law enforcement. The Irvine Police Department did a fantastic job hosting the event and showcasing their robust efforts and advanced equipment to keep Irvine safe. Vice Mayor Agran thanks Jordan Liu, Shiree Lind, and all of the men and women of the Irvine Police Department for all that they do!

Civic Engagement:

Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County: The Office of Vice Mayor Agran participated in this year's Civic Engagement event hosted by Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County, which recently commemorated its fortieth year of service. Second Harvest has provided dignified access to nutritious food for over 330,000 Orange County residents. In 2024 alone, they distributed 35.8 million pounds of food. Vice Mayor Agran commends this organization for this remarkable accomplishment and all they do! For more information, please visit www.feedoc.org.

Eagle Scout Project: Andrew Park took on a project to enhance his former middle school with public art and native plants, which Vice Mayor Agran deemed an impressive undertaking. The art reflects Irvine's agricultural history and avocado orchards, as well as its future with the Great Park. We are grateful to Andrew for inviting Vice Mayor Agran to witness the work involved in his Eagle Scout project and his invaluable contribution to our community.

Arise Wellness Center: Vice Mayor Agran congratulates the founders of Arise Wellness Center, Dr. Goldaz Agahi, Antonio Brown, and A.C. Green, on its successful grand opening! His staff was excited to participate in the celebration at Arise Church with Pastor Jason A. Aguilar. This organization, led by Clinical Director Jennifer Harber, is committed to enhancing our well-being through behavioral health care in a nurturing setting.
