City Council and Councilmember Agran honor OC Human Relations

Congratulations to OC Human Relations on its 30 year anniversary!

For decades OC Human Relations has worked to promote respect, empower diverse communities, resolve conflict respectfully, advocate for equal justice, and pull the community together, facilitating respectful dialogue and sharing practicaI tools to build understanding across cultural divides.

While this work has been a critical resource in Orange County and Irvine for decades, their resources and perspective have been especially valuable over the last year. As racial inequality, hate crimes and rhetoric, and health and income disparities exacerbated by Covid took center stage across the country, OC Human Relations responded to a surge of requests for training, guidance, and community leadership in Irvine and throughout Orange County.

Following a brief presentation by board members Dr. Gurpreet Singh Ahuja and Sandi Lester, the City Council made the commendation featured in the enclosed video. Later in the meeting, Councilmember Agran also awarded a Community Partnership Fund Grant to Orange County Human Relations of $2,000 to support ongoing program costs.
